This energizer aims to show the interest of collaborative work while giving you the energy to start a workshop.

Duration: 10 minutes for the classic version

Step 1 of back to back

The facilitator will ask each participant to find a person of similar height and weight; this will constitute X binomials.

Then, all binomials will have to sit on the ground back to back and will have to hook their arms as shown in the picture below:

Step 2 of back to back

Now each binomial will have to stand up keeping their arms tied and staying back to back. This exercise is not easy and will require a little energy.

Step 3 – other possibility

The facilitator can also propose an additional step which will be to let all the binomials discuss with each other after the first try to find improvement axes to get up faster.

This can be interesting before doing another back-to-back session and bringing the notion of continuous improvement.

The facilitator can also propose to all the participants to discuss among themselves so that all binomials find the best solution to get up faster. The idea in this case is to bring the essential notion of collective intelligence into the teams.

Conclusion: back to back

So to conclude, this ice breaker is really interesting and can create a great atmosphere between the participants. The teams will be able to learn some interesting concepts: collective intelligence, continuous improvement, and especially the importance of collaborative work.
