Required material for Jeopardy

For the Jeopardy, you will need to prepare the following equipment:

  • post-it
  • a white board or large sheets post’it (paper board)
  • erasable markers

The overall time to plan is 30 minutes.

Preparation

The Scrum Master doesn’t need to prepare this ceremony; he will just have to make sure that the material is present. However, it would even be possible to do this retrospective without equipment but it would be less pleasant for the participants.

All steps

Here are the different steps to take to complete this new retrospective.

Step 1: The Scrum Master will allow participants to take 5 minutes to write an answer on a yellow post’it and 1 question (related to the answer) on a pink post’it. Each participant will be able to make several post’it but will have to make a pink post’it for each yellow post’it.

The question will concern problems encountered either personally or by the team.

When the questions / answers are completed, participants will stick their answers on the board (the question must remain secret).

Step 2: On the second phase, the participants will have to find the question for the first answer (except the one who asked the answer). The scrum master will note all the questions of the participants.

When the participants don’t find any more questions, the one who put the answer will come with the post’it of the question while saying it aloud.

We will do this until there are no more answers.

Step 3: he will purpose to the participants to take 5 minutes to note improvement points on post’it; they can only put one idea per post’it.

Step 4: The Scrum Master will purpose to make a dot voting to vote the 3 main areas of improvement that will be put into action from the beginning of the next sprint.

It will not forget to ask participants to choose a volunteer to be responsible for monitoring each axis of improvement. It is important to remember that it is essential to empower people to ensure that the axis of improvement will not be forgotten at the end of the retrospective.

Conclusion : Jeopardy

Very different, this retrospective offers an innovative and original format that will radically change the format. Don’t hesitate to animate it within your teams.
